  1. People kill and die in revolutions. Evolution slowly weeds out the failed for the new. Forgive me if my empathy outweighs my impatience and I’d prefer an evolution instead. We are healthy to the extent that our actions lead to humane outcomes.

  2. The levers of power soil all hands. Some particular saints are soiled less but all are marked by that dirty business. Show me a pair of utterly clean mitts, I’ll show you someone who won’t know how to effect real change.

  3. Thing is, they use the far left’s idealistic zeal to get them to go against their own general best interests the same way they use the far right’s racism to do the same. Useful idiots both ends of the horseshoe, played against the middle.

  4. Cynicism is poison but a heaping shovelful of skepticism never hurt anyone ever.

  5. Nah, the revolution will be televised, of course it will. And the companies that advertise as the revolution’s televised will be the people revolted against in the next go round, ad infinitum, ad nauseam, ad ad ad.

  6. Consider this planet one big rotating hospice. 90 more years or 9 more seconds, we’re all headed in the same direction. The meaning of life is to ameliorate each other’s suffering. Seen that way, it all becomes radically clear.

  7. Yeah, I’d write an Elton John parody about Saturnalia were there any calling for it. SATURN-DAY SATURN-DAY SATURN-DAY SATURN-DAY SATURN-DAY-NIGHT’S ALL RIGHT

  8. Making something a joke is even more powerful in destroying it than trying to force people to forget it. UFO hoaxes were the best cover that Cold War spy plane development ever had, as an example. A forgotten idea can be rediscovered. Ridicule is forever.
