.) Don’t write what you know, write what you feel. When you only write what you know, you get caught up in the literality of your experience and start going over the same details over and again. Find metaphors for your feelings and you can write forever.
.) The popular musician killed himself but not the way you think. Somewhere in his 50s, filthy rich in self-parody, in Las Vegas residency, he bought a trip in a time machine to see himself back when he was young and pretty and, in his zeal, had to prevent himself from happening.
.) “The thing you don’t want to write about, that’s the thing you have to write about, if for no other reason than to get it out so that you can write about other stuff again.” He’s right, of course, he was usually right.
.) I’m starting to think that fast food stunts like “Doritos Tacos” and “The KFC Cheetos Sandwich” are secretly being underwritten by the drug companies that sell insulin.
.) The weird thing about how the internet turned into the surveillance state was, like, at least in 1984, Big Brother was a non-profit. The surveillance state run as a business is even worse in many respects.
.) In 1966, during the All-City Football Championship for the Polk High School Panthers, Ted Bundy killed four opposing players in a single game. FOUR MURDERS IN A SINGLE GAME.
.) Gotta love the people who think that because they’re in a truck or a Jeep, they don’t have to drive well in snow.
.) People like Howard Schultz and Michael Bloomberg genuinely believe that centrism is oppressing every sex, race and faith equally and it would be funny if it wasn’t so damned sad.
