Catching up Part 3: Since returning to Japan in 2016

I returned to Japan August 27th (I believe). I then went to bed. And slept the entirety of the 28th. Then went to work on the 29th. Work was, in reality, the BOE. No work was actually involved. The school’s opening ceremony was on Thursday the 1st and classes started in earnest on Friday the 2nd. I have primarily been at Miyachu, with a sadly large number of BOE days and only on elementary day that I can immediately recall (Eshin last Friday). There wasn’t much for me to do as the sports festival was the 11th, and that took up most of the middle school’s attentions. The sports day was fun and fine, and I enjoyed it more than expected. It helped that I was able to walk around and talk to people, that I knew the students, and that I knew the parents and staff. Watching a bunch of strangers run relay races for six hours really shouldn’t be anybody’s idea of fun, but when you know the kids, and you can root for the ones you like, it makes a big difference.
I’ve taken to taking long walks as I gained a lot of weight in July/August. Before recently, I’d been consistently walking 20K steps in a day. Today (the 21st) marks the continuation of a longish break. Partly due to weather and currently due to a rather painful back injury. Caused by trying to get in too much walking prior to the funeral when I already had a bad back.
I’ve resumed swimming, but I’m not keeping up with it as religiously. One difficulty is that I need to eat, and by the time I swim and then eat, it’s almost impossible to run errands.
Guitar hasn’t resumed. Take Sensei may have a new real job. I need to get practicing anyway. I haven’t touched the keyboard that I bought during the silence.
Life’s been pretty dull beyond what I mentioned. I feel as though maybe I’ve done a few other things, but, nothing especially special comes to mind.
While things of a personal nature have happened, it’s probably better to group that in with the time in Michigan.
