  1. Sometimes when I was whisking matcha tea, I would sing to myself “mat-cha mat-cha man, I want to be a mat-cha man”.

  2. Pretend to confuse “search engine” and “siege engine” whenever possible.

  3. A goth rap song called “K.R.E.A.M. (Krampus Rules Everything Around Me)”.

  4. Half the problem with continuing Star Wars stories is there’s no way to get out of the way of its own legacy symbology. It’s basically The Perennial Falcon at this point.

  5. Is it just me or does everyone get REALLY cringed out when a cover band has its name too on the nose? “Almost Queen”? “Guns 4 Roses”? C’mon, man, be a LITTLE clever about it. Pick a song title or an iconic lyric or something at least. Or a pun! “Lez Zepplin” was a good one.

  6. “We didn’t start the fire… but we tried to get rich instead of trying to fix it… we didn’t start the fire, we weren’t at the start but still it’s part our fault…”

  7. Part of the psychic weight of being suburban “Gen X” Americans is the realization that in concrete literal teams, the project of reforming the American system was forestalled and in some cases ceased entirely so we could be given sheltered materially comfortable childhoods. The revolution was called off so we could have lots of plastic toys. It is by equal measures horrifying and completely understandable to us, now, as adults in our own retrospect.

  8. The more outwardly “organized” and “neat” the surface of a system looks, the harder it is to find anything in it. If it were only socially acceptable to leave all our clothes in the clean-laundry hamper, it’d be 500% easier to get dressed before going out.
