I wanted to feel something for that Obi-Wan trailer, I really really did. But there’s just too much Star Wars, so many Star Wars, infinite Star Wars, I’m full up on Star Wars, I’m exhausted on Star Wars and all I felt was… marketed to.

One of the perks of working in the library is every day, in the discharge of your duties, you’re scanning all these book titles & experiencing all the wild permutations the English language can create. (Example: “Wholeness and the Implicate Order” is an amazing name for a band.)

Have we considered if maybe between COVID and blizzards, the universe is just telling Utica to stop having St. Patricks Day parades? Maybe the universe will let up on humanity if we just stop trying to do that. It’s worth a shot. I’m just saying it’s worth a shot.

We rarely complain because we want to put in the hard work of change. We mostly complain as a pressure drop on our frustrations so that we can, instead, continue on in an uncomfortable rut that is nonetheless easier than trying something scarily new.

Scented garbage bags were invented in 1950 and yet they somehow FEEL newer to me, a person born in the late 70s, than the internet, an invention which came to the wider public in the mid-90s. I don’t know why but I feel it in my bones.
