The deaths by COVID-19, a health crisis nearly every other civilized nation handled at least twice as well, that body-count is currently around 70 times that of the September 11th attacks. And the buck on that failure, that vast tragedy, lies squarely at the feet of Donald Trump.

When the choice is between accomplishing a limited good & feeling uncompromised, that latter option is nearly always a lard-slicked water-slide straight into hell.

God, baseball’s minor leagues are such an exploitative retrograde model. Had I been a gifted athlete with the choice of the NBA or NFL right out of school or 6 years of old buses, instant ramen dinners & minimum wages in Batavia or Round Rock, I would’ve been a power forward too.

Understood properly, DUNE is the story of people & worlds destroyed by scarce resource power struggle, its heart an indictment of Big Man Theory history, our attempts at finding charismatic messiahs destroying us & those would-be Big Men too. It is the story of our time.
