I’d only played in D&D one-shots before, this game I’m playing with my restaurant co-workers is my first continuing campaign. I didn’t realize how many choices you have to make early: on the cusp of going up to Level 2, the bard I’m playing has to make all kinds of choices now (spells, armor) factoring in what he’ll do if he lives to 3rd or 4th level and the sub-class choice and feat-or-score-improvement. Is he going to be more of a healer/investigator Lore Bard or more of a control/melee Valor Bard? It’s like fantasy baseball with the persistent nature of early strategic choices.
