Game Idea #1: OVERLORD, a resource management deal where you just took over a Generic Fantasy Kingdom and now have to allocate your resources to maintain it, bribing vassals, wiping out potential Chosen Ones, rooting out treasonous aides, etc.
-
Game Idea #2: THE COUNCIL, a multi-player game where the players are all members of a ruling cabal that need to balance their ambition to rule over the others with the risk of destabilizing their position through that rivalry, allowing freedom fighters to rise.
-
Game Idea #3: MIS (managed) CITY. Within a failing SIM city, you try to exploit that failure to your ends. Be a real estate developer trying to profit, a revolutionary trying to burn the whole thing down or a community organizer trying to save it from itself!

Authoritarianism is fundamentally the act of a militant plurality seizing power over a divided majority. Hitler could’ve never risen to power had a broad coalition compromised to unify against him, neither could’ve Trump. They choke you with your own stridency.

All the moss themed channels on youtube remind you to “lichen comment and subscribe” at the end of their videos.

People project their own motivations onto others, worst of all in crisis. “They SAY they want me to mask for my own health but I’d never go out of my way to help someone else so they can’t be sincere, they’re oppressing me somehow.” It’s the Dunning-Kruger effect but for empathy.
