  1. No, I can’t say that I have faith in the American electorate at large. Faith, to paraphrase DUNE, is for Sunday meditations and loveplay. Looking at similar cycles in the past and seeing how they unfolded tends to be exponentially more reliable than faith.

  2. Algorithmically curated media denies us the processing of any idea we don’t immediately accept. Scrolling a timeline, picking up a needle, they’re at least trivial barriers to staying in comfort zones. Technology programs us deeper & deeper into profitably ignorant echo chambers.

  3. Your prog-rock cover of “Convoy” will be recorded until the nom de guerre of “Diesel Zappa”.

  4. Truth is America’s on average slightly left of center but our left clings to the delusion that most people can be pushed hard left with a precision condescending lecture and the right operates with the cruel unified efficiency of the mafia. It sucks but that’s the ballgame.

  5. If you want anyone to hear you explain the hollowness of fame and success, you must first be famous, allowing the listener to believe that you are lying out of false modesty or sour grapes. Catch 22.

  6. There is probably someone wondering if they could ever deserve your love for each person you wonder upon the same. They are probably not the same person but, hey, you never know.

  7. The optimal name for a goth band is “Patty Hearse”.

  8. Could a computer virus give you a hacking cough?
