.) Every individual tree is important. Holy even, maybe. But if you burn down the forest trying to save any one particular tree, you’ve just burned down thousands of important maybe holy individual trees. Your heart can’t just bleed for the now, it must bleed for the future too.
.) Whenever a diet or health-conscious food refers to itself as guilt-free, I want to explain to the food, “you do not want to test my capacity for feeling guilty, food, you are small but it, it is infinite.”
.) There is something weird and backward about minor presidential candidates who are clearly just pretending to run for president so as to raise their profile to run for a more attainable office in the next election cycle. (Lookin’ at you, Buttigieg.)
.) Probably the best idea for cryptid-themed lingerie is the Chupaca Bra.
.) If you want to understand our culture in one historical fact, it is that rich people made up the “breaking a mirror is seven years bad luck” superstition to trick their servants into taking more care when polishing their mirrors.
.) Leadership isn’t about wanting the position of leadership. It’s about believing in the goal or the process or the idea or the organization or whatever, putting in the work and letting people naturally follow that example or not. Leadership is a means and never an end.
.) Whenever I see a sign that says “flush toilet paper only!” I get what they mean but I still want to leave a note asking “thenwhere do we put the urine and poo?”
.) The lesson of ‘16 wasn’t “well, I guess America won’t vote for a woman” as… a woman won, handily. The lesson is “if the far left petulantly takes its ball and goes home, the electoral college is easily manipulated”.
