.) The difference between the ability to fund-raise & the ability to generate actual general-election votes is a reality a whole lotta of people don’t wanna admit to right now. The middle class white guys in Northeast & Pacific Coast feel the Bern, yeah, he’s poison anywhere else.

.) Begging for authorial paratext when they’ll never what you want in the text so they can sell in Iowa is beneath you. For whatever’s outside the main text, your head-canon is just as valid as even author’s Word of God, else it would BE in the text.

.) Be the fire that burns a Confederate flag, be the fist that punches a Proud Boy, be the boot that kicks through a sign for Infowars… and also be the voice of love that turns people away from all those hates proactively too. You can be both, y’know.

.) It’s a hell of a thing, being half-sane in a completely crazy world. Neither crazed enough to buy in and go with the madness nor sane enough to give up trying to make things better and just protect yourself. Straddling that divide, looking for a third path.

.) I asked myself “I wonder if any internet weirdo has ever tried combining Financial Domination with Multi-Level Marketing” then I remembered, that’s our current economic model so there we are.

.) The beginning of wisdom is realizing that even if you get a little wisdom, it won’t change much. It won’t change that you have to eat and breathe and poop, it won’t win you the lottery, it won’t prevent death. You’ll just know a little more.

.) The third one was just gonna be called PAUL FART: FART COP, y’know.

.) Your CW teen reboot of THE CROW will be called THAT’S SO DRAVEN. It won’t be the worst thing ever.

.) Your indie-rock supergroup will be called “The Twee Amigos”.

.) Cynicism isn’t the opposite of hope. Cynicism is the methadone or narcan for those of us who abused hope’s opiatic properities too much and need help coming back from hope’s brink of madness.

.) If the fantasy that fiction may somehow literally be true eclipses the power of the metaphor being woven, the reader has failed, the author’s failed, the entire society’s failed. We shouldn’t work at new fakes to hide in, rather new lenses through which to cope with the real.

.) Parable is just a fancy church word for metaphor.

.) Amish buggy riding into town, the driver talking on his cell phone, immunized from the law’s both of traffic and of Providence via sheer audacity. And I thought to myself, I know that feel.

.) Nearly everyone knows what their old junk is “worth”, almost no one has come to terms with what someone would actually pay for it.
