.) If you regain your amateur status, did you pro-lapse?
.) The problem with being a famous (whatever) is exactly that, that being famous is half the job and the thing that they actually do is only half of what they do. Famous actor, singer, politician, whatever, half the gig is the stagecraft of maintaining a famous persona.
.) I’ve seen the best mimes of my generation destroyed by imaginary winds, locked starving in boxes made only of air, dragged hysterical in unreal monsoons, as dinosaurs put extinct by giant metaphor, as ideas extinguished by a subtle meteor.
.) Being born rich is like having a Game Genie in the Nintendo of life.
.) People keying in on each other, thinking they’ll have sole access to another person’s secret hidden best self, fooling themselves. When some shows you who they are, believe them.
.) I hate when people make up a neologism to make their weird thing sound more respectable. If you’ve got a whisper fetish, call it a whisper fetish and own it, you don’t have to make up a term like “ASMR” to glaze a veneer of non-weirdness. Own it.
.) The most important thing my father ever taught me is that what’s good is more important than what’s right. Fall on your sword, swallow your pride, give up your ego if it is what makes things better, if it makes things more humane, if it holds off suffering and pain another day.
.) You can’t throw out the baby of the good memories with the bathwater of the bad times but you can’t pretend it was babies all the way down either. There was a lot of dirty water. All we can do is move forward and hope some day the babies will grow up and we’ll find clean water again.
