1.) I want to believe some power put us here because we were uniquely prepared somehow to push back the darkness. But that’s an enormous faith. We always thought there was gonna be more time to fix things slowly, methodically, smoothly. Time’s up, I guess.

In the end, our extant heterogeneity might eventually cause people to wake up and pull out of the darkness, after the early horrors, maybe.
