While I don’t dare ask who he voted for, I recall a conversation I had with my dad. He said he didn’t want to vote for Hillary because she’s pro-immigration. This, coming from a registered Democrat.

Forget the nuances of policy for a second: HE WASN’T BORN IN THIS COUNTRY. My dad was born in India, and came to this country when he was 16.

And when pressed, he pointed out that Indians don’t get along with Muslims. Not even a “this is messed up, but it’s a feeling” but more “this excuses my xenophobia and I will never change.”

He’s brown and he doesn’t understand his internally justified xenophobia. No wonder talking to racist rednecks is like talking to a wall. Rednecks have absolutely no idea the privilege they have of not being discriminated against. If Hillary won, Trump supporters would be annoyed, but not afraid. My feeds blew up last night with friends who are AFRAID. They’re afraid of discrimination, of deportation, of losing their healthcare.

(Uh. Wall. No pun intended.)

I joke that I’d take a third Dubya term over this. The Town Idiot somehow sounds better than the Town Asshat.
