I think I have nothing left to prove when it comes to NaNoWriMo. I… I don’t even know what to say. I should crack 50k in the next day or two. I should finish the first draft by the 21st, as I’ll need the extra week to edit and revise it into a novel proper.

I mean seriously. The par for today was 11666 words TOTAL. I thought I was nuts when I had a 9k day followed by a 8k day. I did NOT fathom I’d get an 11k day.

What’s mindblowing is I didn’t sit down specifically to write new sections today. I actually was revising. I backed up the beginning a little so I could establish a narrative voice. I revised as I went, filling gaps whereever I had some kind of “hey, add stuff here” self-note. They ranged from dialogue, descriptions, to chapters that basically needed to be entirely written. So, no guesswork in terms of what to write next.

I just kept going. I still can’t believe I’m not even doing anything to pad my wordcount. I’m not specifically following any side characters around and seeing what they’re doing. I’m not doing any obnoxious dream sequences. Every single chapter, every single sequence, deals directly with the main character.

I’m telling you, each time I do NaNoWriMo (successfully), I get better at it. As an aside, it’s far less stressful doing these feats at the beginning of the month, than the end. I don’t feel any stress at all.

Okay, I’ll shut up now. As per my 25k in 5 days feat, this is my victory song:
