Well, it’s now March 1st, so, let’s recap what’s happened.
On the 24th, I went to Kukino. I came back home feeling awful and exhausted. I ended up forgetting that I had tea practice. So, yeah. Hooray for me. I went one time extra the week before, so, I guess, it all averages out. I felt really guilty, though. See, I felt physically awful. I was kind of glad that it was insufferably bad on Thursday night because it meant that on Friday, when I woke up feeling terrible, I was able to call in and not feel terrible about it. I really felt sick. So, I slept a lot, which was nice. I don’t really remember much of what happened on Friday beyond being sick. A lot of sleeping and vegging, one supposes. Ate terrible food in massive quantities, and, naturally, didn’t exercise. Saturday I got up and did the game, but, it wasn’t great. Armand is a terrible player who can’t separate himself from his character and gets way too caught up in everything and takes it all way too personally. He also doesn’t seem to get how roleplaying works. A barbarian doesn’t waste ten minutes of game time to figure out the most humane way to kill a sabretooth tiger that nearly one hit killed a teammate. That is, unless he’s got compelling and interesting reasons in his backstory. However, there is no such thing here. Ugh. Frustration. Well, I canceled guitar, obviously, and napped a lot.
Sunday was mostly spent vegging or sleeping as well. However, there was one big exception. The closing ceremony of Hirakawa Elementary.
By Monday, I still felt awful, but I wanted to go in to work. I hate lying around doing nothing. However, upon getting there, I realized that I was in no condition to actually stay there, and, after an hour of sucking it up, I went back to the doctor. Not because it would really make a difference, but to get a note justifying me missing school. Then, to Plasse to get some food for the ol’ George Foreman. I made myself a very healthy lunch, then, went to bed. I woke up, went back to the store for some more food, came home, and tried to sleep again after more vegging. I bought three bags of mikans at the store, only one of which contained actually edible mikan. Heartbreaking. Anyway, trying to get to sleep was an ordeal. One, I’d napped. Two, I got restless legs. Three, I ended up getting horrible heartburn somehow. I also couldn’t get comfortable (partly because I was trying to sleep with a chest full of Vick’s VapoRub) and partly because . . . no idea. Then, I couldn’t get the temperature right. Where my heater shines I burn up, where it doesn’t, I freeze. I strongly regretted not having bought that second blanket at Plasse that I’d had my eyes on.
I got up at 6:50 this morning, and I felt a lot better. Exhausted though I was for lack of sleep, I still felt much better than I had felt in days. I didn’t get immediately out of bed, as has been my intention lately, for a good reason: My room was freezing and I wanted to warm it up before doing anything. In retrospect, that sounded like a much more compelling argument at 6:51. However, I turned the heater on and laid back down for another 9 minutes. Then, time to go about the morning routine.
I arrived at work on time and found out that I’ll be doing about ten minutes of “teaching” today. I’m reading a Japanese fairy story (in English) to the second years in 2nd and 6th periods. There’s an after party for the tea ceremony event from the weekend before last tonight, but, I think I’m going to have to sit that one out. I still am not feeling very well. I’ve currently got terrible heartburn in spite of being on some US brought OTCs for it. And I’m tired. I don’t WANT to sit this out, but, I think that I should. It’s just a better idea. Ugh. I’m bored.
Well, that’s the plan. Being bored. Trying to eat healthy. Feeling like crap.
I’ll write more on Hirakawa, but, not now. I feel like crap, and it’s a beautiful moment that deserves more thought than I can give it right now.
