1.) Talking about mental illness after mass shootings makes sense but if we’re not also talking about cultural illness, we’re fixing nothing.

2.) What do you like or dislike about you? These are the things a person might like or dislike about you. It’s that easy, it’s that hard.

3.) The resolution to ambivalence toward fame you’d think would be cult status but so many cult figures bitterly wish they were “really” famous.

6.) The idea oil-fed ISIS attacked Paris so Climate Change protests could be quelled is ideologically elegant but of course logistically absurd.

7.) If I could play an instrument, I’d go into florid speeches about how and why I wrote this original piece and then play, like, a Stones song.

8.) I wonder if anyone I’ve ever assumed just wasn’t into me thought she was playing hard to get. I have no sensors for that approach.
