Eliminate the IRS? Good luck with that.
Oop, socialism is still a slur to them.
Can’t take Republicans seriously about “small government” when they want to regulate our personal lives and grow the military. Stay out of our lives and stop being the World Police, and maybe I’ll believe you.
Good question about how Republicans are offering people nothing. Christie responds with the stock Republican fear tactic: tax rate of 70-80%? You’re so full of shit, Christie. He’s just afraid his corporate overlords won’t fund him.
I wonder whether glass-steagall. Republicans enjoy the lie that deregulation grows the economy. Well, it does let the rich get richer.
What? People not getting married to save money? Your corporate overlords like Trump love to say how they take advantage of the law. You’re an idiot Santorum. So if struggling people take advantage of the law, that’s somehow bad?
HUCKABEE GREW UP POOR? Well, I’d have to look into that, homeboy. He’s right that nobody wants to be poor, but he’s still doing that Republican line of “the government didn’t ask if you wanted money taken out for social security.”
I don’t agree with Bobby Jindal 100%, but he sounds good. Hrm. He’s leaning into Huckabee, but he’s using numbers, saying spending in Huckabee’s state went up. No idea how accurate they are. Iota of bickering now, but with only four on the stage, it’s a little easier to self-regulate.
Christie says Hillary will “drown us in debt.” Check your numbers, asshat. Every democratic president dating back to Carter has done a better job with our yearly national debt, then any of the republican presidents. Reagan increased the debt. Dubya turned a SURPLUS into a MASSIVE debt. Obama’s cut some of that yearly debt. If I were republican, I might actually like what Christie is saying. I wonder why he’s not doing better in polls. I’m from Jersey - I know what a gigantic asshole he is. And this year has proven that republicans love assholes.
HILLARY CLINTON IS COMING FOR YOUR WALLET. Ha ha, you got nothing to worry about unless you’re rich. He knows who his corporate overlords are. Do people really think you can get taxed out of being rich?
Santorum: “I’m a capitalist, not a corporatist.” Oh my god, I feel so dirty agreeing with Santorum. The question was whether his decision to vote against bailing out the automakers was a good decision. He says we shouldn’t bail out, whether they’re auto industry or banks. I FEEL SO DIRTY.
Of course, saving failing industry gets iffy. After all, we subsidize agriculture. I’m not smart enough to think of a solution without free money. Losing the auto industry WOULD be a blow to the economy. But. I don’t know.
Huckabee asked about refugees. Oh my god, they’re talking about the SLAUGHTER OF CHRISTIANS. Look guys, it’s not just christians being killed. Are christians being killed? Yes. So are muslims in the region. (Syria.)
He IS right that it’s a little puzzling how Saudi Arabia never does shit.
CHINA. Sorry. Reminds me of this:
For extra lulz, play at doublespeed.
Christie wants to posture with China. Sigh.
Yes, we do call you lots of things, Christie. Take a shot whenever Christie brings up Hillary.
Bobby Jindal has good hand gestures. Can’t place who it reminds me of. Hrm. Jindal’s taking it to Christie and Christie is refusing to attack him, insisting on complimenting him and BRING UP HILLARY.
JINDAL WOULD GIVE CHRISTIE A RIBBON AND A JUICE BOX FOR PARTICIPATING. CAN I GET SOME BURN CREAM PLEASE.
Moderator asked which Democrat they best work with. They’re ducking the question. Great way to show how you can work with the other side. NOOOTTT. Fuck you, Christie; we’re not standing with police officers? POLICE DEATHS ARE DOWN, YOU ASSHAT. At least Sanders can say he co-authored shit with McCain for veteran benefits.
Santorum: 20% flat tax. Man, the rich would get so much monies.
Christie: 8-28%
Jindal: 2%-10%-25%.
Huckabee: Didn’t give a specific number. “Consumption tax”. Isn’t that just a sales tax? It makes sense in the way that, if you’re rich, you’ll get taxed more for buying expensive things. Ah, but that’s assuming rich people will spend all their money. At some point, you just have everything you need and everything goes in the bank. The question of being taxed before you spend or as you spend. Devil is in the numbers. It’s entirely possible it’ll create a wall making it harder for people with less money to buy expensive things. I don’t know.
I really hope the Daily Show does a segment on how many times they bring up Hillary. Oh man. You’d think Dubya never existed. If I really did make a drinking game out of this, I think I would have puked by now.
Can someone explain to me why low interest rates is bad? I’ve never been personally effected by interest rates in my life. I’ve taken macro and micro econ, and man. I aced both and still felt like I didn’t understand a damned thing. The stock market itself is legalized gambling.
Huckabee: “My wife’s name is Janet, so when you say ‘Janet yelling’, I’m very familiar with what you mean.” I like quips.
I don’t think the Gold Standard (of currency) is realistic anymore.
Santorum: Let the private sector take care of the veterans. .....You’re shitting me, right? You send people to war, you fucking take care of them. They aren’t better than the rest of us, but the government better fucking put a little priority to take care of our veterans.
Christie knows how to talk to the camera. I bet they kicked Christie and Huckabee down to boost ratings for the undercard debate. It’s certainly a better debate than the other undercards I’ve watched.
