Life, Step-parent problems, and Pinterest Projects in My Metamorphosis

I have nothing really exciting to update on. I’ve basically been doing the same thing: working on our house, working, and going to school. Things with Zion are so so. I talked to his mother the other day and I was telling her about some of the problems we’re having i.e. the lying, blaming others, not taking accountability, etc. She was like “oh yeah I forgot to warn y’all about that…”

Wtf?! Really? Don’t you think that’s some pertinent information you should have shared before he came to live with us! No wonder she had no problem sending him here. It is nice to know he was already like that and not just acting out because he’s in a new environment or whatever. The problem is, how do you fix that? Dude he lies willy nilly like it’s nothing. His mother was saying one time they knew he had done something wrong but he kept lying and saying it was his younger brother. No matter what he kept adamantly denying it, so his mother said “well I guess since we don’t know who it is, both of all are going to get whippings then..” and even then Zion STILL wouldn’t admit it was him. Just like he did with Cassidy and that whole drawing in the book incident. He lies and doesn’t blink an eye. No matter how big or small. Yesterday Cassidy complained to me he left pee on the toilet seat and wouldn’t clean it up. Zion kept saying it wasn’t him, it was “someone else.” They have their own bathroom. He’s the only boy who uses it. Duh, it was you. It’s not even a big deal, just clean that shit off! It’s so frustrating.

We’ve been talking a lot about possibly expanding our family but with Zion here I just can’t. He is too exhausting for me to add a baby into the mix. I’d really like to have a baby, but the thought of having to deal with a newborn and Zion (on top of everything else) makes me hella uneasy. And I wish I could tell Bradley that but he a) wouldn’t understand and b) would totally jump on the defense. So instead I made up every excuse in the book why we shouldn’t have one.

Some things have gotten better, but only because we’re busy. The lying and laziness are still a MAJOR issue. Like on Monday, I get emails from his teacher with the weekly “newsletter” that updates parents on everything, including when tests are. He had one Tuesday. So I ask him Monday when I picked them up, “don’t you have a test tomorrow?” .. “No.” Really? You’re a damn liar and you’re lazy and don’t want to study for it. When I told him yes he does and he needs to study for it, he said he did study.. in class. Umm NO. That’s not studying. Bradley makes excuses for that shit saying “that’s just how boys are.” Really? All boys are lazy liars? Get the f outta here.

Moving on.

My high school reunion is this weekend. I’m somewhat excited about it. I was very lost and VERY awkward in high school. I never fit in with any group, even though I tried the punk thing, the wigger thing, the preppy thing,.. I never could find my place in the sun. Plus I was fat and ugly. So needless to say, high school sucked. So I am somewhat looking forward to them seeing me now, somewhat more attractive and somewhat successful and happy.

Here are a few pictures from the projects I’ve been working on. There’s still so much I want/need to do, but finding the time/money is the hard part:

I wish I had taken a pic of this dresser before I took the drawers out. There were also two doors in the middle. I was just going to paint them too, but I decided to not put the doors back on, and make it a shelf.

I just randomly painted this on a whim yesterday. We’ve been using this TV tray as a little side table for a while, I still haven’t found one I liked enough to pay $$ for. So I used some of my leftover paint and got a stencil from Walmart and redid this for like $3.00 total.

I bought some glass bottles at Hobby Lobby and used chalk paint to paint them. I def got the idea straight from Pinterest. I’m not that creative.

My baby on “western wear” day during Homecoming Week:

Just a random pic of my dog and our backyard, it just came out really cool so I wanted to share it. #nofilter!

And random annoying turkey that followed us from the backyard ON to my front porch. He’s not mean or anything, just really super annoying. alt text
