Since Friday at 2:00pm we began moving and finally finished getting all our stuff here and mostly situated. I’m exhausted. Remind me to NEVER move myself again and to hire a moving company next time. Actually, that’s what I wanted to do in the first place. But somehow me and Bradley ended up doing everything ourselves with a little help from my mom and from a client of his who helped with all the big heavy stuff.
So Labor Day for us was literally non-stop labor. And he had to work all weekend to boot, so it was all me taking multiple trips back and forth, packing my Pathfinder to the brim, unloading it myself, and putting everything away. Last night we were literally packing up stuff until 2am in a torrential downpour. Oh, well. Enough complaining because it’s done and over with and I am so in love with this house!
This is like a whole new beginning for me because when we moved into Bradley’s house, that’s what exactly what it felt like–us moving into Bradley’s house. It never felt “like home”. Like I was just an extended stay guest. It got better once I started redecorating, and when I redid the kitchen (painting faux granite countertops, painting the cabinets, etc..). He let me have free reign and do whatever I wanted to “our” house, but it never really felt like it was “ours.” There was a couple of reasons for this. For one, he bought and shared that house with a long time girlfriend (like on and off for 7 or 8 years) and that bothered me for some reason. Also, the house was decent (especially once we bought new furniture and painted and I added my feminine touch). BUT, it was located in the hood. Well not really the hood, but it was slowly becoming more and more ghetto and unsafe and I never felt comfortable. When I was growing up and up until I moved out of my mom’s house, no one ever had a set of house keys. We never locked our doors. Never. I never felt a need to. But when we moved into Bradley’s we got a security system and I was constantly checking to make sure the doors were locked. That’s not a good feeling. So in conclusion, my new house feels like OUR house. This is a home that we picked out together (well, more like I found it, I did a walkthrough and I said I wanted it, and I applied for it..). We created this home together and for whatever reason it makes everything feel more real.
Ok, enough babbling. I don’t have anything juicy to report on just because we’ve been so busy with the move. The semester just started and I am super behind already and behind in work. The kids are good and me and Bradley have been getting a long a lot better (aka no major blow outs about Zion).
Here are a couple of pics from our family room. This is by far m favorite room. It’s also the only room that is pretty much 100% done. I LOVE my photo collage wall. I got the idea from Pinterest (duh I am not very creative) and I love how it turned out. Most of those frames I already had but I got a few things at Kirklands today, including that table which was marked down from 180 to 85.00, hail yeah! I love a good bargain, everything I got was on clearance. There are a few things I’d like to add to it, but it’s pretty much done.

I LOVE my front porch! My mom got us some rocking chairs for a “housewarming gift” and I just bought that ‘B’ and it looks so cute!

I’ll post more pics of the rest of the house once we get everything settled in!
