  1. You will cover Lou Reed’s METAL MACHINE MUSIC on actual industrial machinery and you will call your band “Computer Numerical Control Music Factory”.

  2. Harvey Dangerfield got no respect for being a flagpole sitta, no respect, I tell ya.

  3. The coffee life, la vie en roast.

  4. If you’re caught speeding but you can prove a Beastie Boys song came on the radio, you should get off scot-free, like, no one can help that. Just like if you were driving slow and the cop thought you were stoned, if you can prove a Gerry Rafferty song came on, like, same deal.

  5. For the person I was & where I was from, the 90s started 9/30/91 when “Smells Like Teen Spirit” debuted on MTV & ended 9/11/01 when, well, y’know. But I’m smart enough to understand how few that lens actually applies to. In the end, actually EVERY man is an island.

  6. When that “classic literature” and “pop culture monster” mash-up cash-in situation came, I totally would’a written ROSENCRANZ AND GUILDERSTERN ARE UNDEAD but, y’know, Stoppard was and is still alive and there was no public domain to exploit.

  7. The universe asks “How many times can you ACTUALLY fine-tune edit a piece that’s only 500 words, though, REALLY?” I look the universe square in the eye. I crack my knuckles with the power of twenty-eight thunderclaps and smile. “Let’s find out.”

  8. Once a building’s torn down, you can never go back inside. Even someone rich enough to build a copy, it could never be exactly the same. I used to find this tragic. These days I find it beautiful. You now have something that cannot be reproduced inside your memory.
