Spring has returned and we are having another heat wave. I have been in the garden pruning the fuchsia and forsythia and making a start on the weeds which suddenly appeared and then grew furiousl...

A visit to Cornwall

We have been away for just over a week with very limited internet access so I have a lot of catching up to do with my reading. I will get to everyone eventually, so please bear with me! We had a ...

Why do I listen?

I went to a branch meeting for my voluntary job yesterday evening. I drove there and back by myself. It’s the first time I’ve driven alone after dark for months. For just over a year I have been ...

A few weeks ago I went on to one of my favourite genealogy sites and noticed they had started a new global family tree. The plan is that thousands of different trees will be combined to form one ...

Poppies

I’m glad Prosebox is not closing after all, but I wish I had known that before going back to Open Diary and paying for a year’s subscription! I’m usually much slower getting things organised but ...

The beast is back!

After a week of spring like weather we are back to winter. The overnight snowfall was as heavy as that of earlier this month, though the consistency is different, and it does seem to be already ...

Cabin Fever

Tony is thoroughly bored with being cooped up here because of the snow. There is no way he can get his car out. His girlfriend, Justeen, keeps ringing and saying how lonely she is. These modern y...

Snowed in

Yesterday The Beast from the East met Storm Emma coming up from Southern Europe. We are right on the edge of the red weather warning that was issued for South Wales. At 9pm Chris arrived. He live...

Crazy weather

The Beast from the East, as the tabloids are calling this weather, has arrived. Yesterday the met office issued a red warning for Scotland, only the second time one has been issued. Today that ha...

The spring asleep

After a few spring like days it has turned bitterly cold again and we are promised snow and winds from Siberia in the next few days. When I looked through the window this morning the lawn was cov...

I have 3 family heirlooms that have been handed down for several generations. They are a jug and 2 cups, white china with a floral design and all with individual gold leaf lettering. They used ...

Our trip to Wolverhampton

I started this entry a week ago. I didn’t finish it, left it as a draft, and then Prosebox went down! These things come to try us, as my mother used to say. We got back from our trip to Wolverham...

A message from beyond?

A very odd thing happened to me last night. Hubby and I are spending 3 days in Wolverhampton. This is for me to pursue some family history research and also for a visit to the Grand Theatre to se...

New Year

We enjoyed a quiet New Year. This year we didn’t go for a drive to the mountains on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve as we often do as it was wet and very windy, we stayed home. I listened to some...

Am I cursed?

Sunshine on snow

It was a beautiful winter’s day here today with the sun glittering on the snow. Every now and again large clumps of it were falling off the trees. The Black Mountains are not black right now, but...

Narnia!

If Cat were here she would say, ‘It’s Narnia outside!’ and it is. When I woke this morning everywhere had a thick carpet of snow. The trees with their frosty white coverings are like something ou...

It was bonfire night yesterday and we spent an enjoyable half an hour watching the fireworks in the village display from our house. We can only see the rockets because of the hill but they looked...

I think I've been overdoing it

I think I have been overdoing the high life. Since our weekend away I have woken with migraines every day, so I have been taking it easy this week. I did manage to get into the garden on Wednesda...

We went away again this last weekend. Our son told us that we are always away and obviously have too much money! This time it was to our regular John Denver event in Coventry. The one at the Wirr...

I am in a bit of a contemplative mood today, thinking about the world we live in and the human race in general. The events in Las Vegas on Sunday were horrific. I have a friend who lives there, ...

Book Description

I live in a terraced cottage on a hillside in South Herefordshire, UK. We are just in England but from our windows we have a view of the Black Mountains which are in Wales. I live with my husband, 2 grown up sons and 4 cats, we also have a daughter who lives with her boyfriend in South Wales.

I don’t have good health but I do voluntary work on a crisis helpline. I love writing. I write poetry and have written a book about my childhood growing up in a pub in Shrewsbury which I am hoping to get published.

I love music. I sing and play guitar and enjoy entertaining, though I don’t get to do that so much as before my health got bad. My other interests are psychology, the environment, history, gardening, genealogy and travel.

Because of my health I am home a lot and this is my view from the terrace..
