Today… is a day? More snow. Which… were I a child or a person in a position to entertain children; could actually be quite fun. However as a professional that is required to travel, it is not fun. And in a rural area… I’m learning how much bullshit there can be. Due to snow, the school buses are in a status called “Hard Roads Only.” This means that they are not cancelling schools but if you rely on the bus to get to school and rely on an unpaved county road… YOU DON’T GET TO GO TO SCHOOL. That’s… bullshit.

ANYWAY

Today has been slow. VERY slow. Like… I have 1 hearing this afternoon by phone but the rest of the day is literally nothing. SO… a planning day, essentially.

That being said… I got to investigate some of what our legislature is doing. They’ve proposed an amendment to our Indecent Exposure law. Luckily this means I’ve got more wiggle room to charge if anyone who views the indecent exposure is under the age of 18. Unluckily this needlessly complicates something that was already needlessly complicated.
Consider the following words carefully
“a person touches the genitals of another, whether clothed or naked, to arouse either party’s sexual interest.”
THAT SPECIFIC ACT can now be charged AS THREE SEPARATE THINGS.
Sexual Assault “B” Felony
Indecent Contact Aggravated Misdemeanor
Indecent Exposure Serious Misdemeanor

So… one action… with three vastly different charging options. So… yeah. When people (like my father) claim that Lawyers shouldn’t be Politicians because Politicians should be “real people”… let this be a lesson. Farmers and Veterinarians and Insurance Salesman didn’t go to law school and may not be the best people to write law.

I am going to try to adult super hard this weekend. Obviously, no guarantees exist to prove that this will happen. But I am going to try. Talking bank run, passport prep, dog walking, house cleaning… real adulting. And yet still? I hope (and plan) to still get in video game time and Anime time.

In other news: Martha was talking about her impending move out. She’s sad about it, obviously, but is working to find a place. She’s already said that she’ll miss me. I’m… obviously going to miss her but will also be relieved about it. The dishes piling up and the rest of the house being an example of “lived in, not cared for” is frustrating. Because I’m not the one living in it. I spend sleep time there and about 5 hours a day there. The tables and counters piling up with stuff comes from Martha being home for all but 3 hours a day and typically being so focused on one individual thing that everything else goes to pot. So wrangling the house back from that disaster is going to be nice. But I find myself honestly thinking a lot about what my dad mentioned. It’s a lot of house for just one person and a dog. It is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1,689 sqft home. What am I going to do with all of that? I mostly use
The Kitchen to cook food
The dinning room/living room to eat food
The master bedroom to sleep
The 1 bathroom for all bathroom needs
The basement to entertain/play video games.

So now I’ll have 3 unused bedrooms, an unused 3 season room, an unused bathroom… I love the house. Don’t get me wrong. Glad I have it. But still… no idea what I’m going to do with all that space.

I mean… arguably? I could de-construct my entertainment system in the basement. Put an older TV in what is now Martha’s sewing room and put a few chairs in there and call it the “Old School Gaming Room”. I could take the PS4 and put that on the TV upstairs since most of my TV viewing will now be PS4 related. I could put a blu ray player in the basement to use the Sound System and Seating as a more Home Theater set up. Maybe go crazy and buy a bunch of work out stuff and turn the downstairs guest room into a workout place. Keep the upstairs guest room a guest room with the bigger bed. But… do I want to do all of that? Honestly? I don’t exactly want to juggle my entire house around to “deal with” a few rooms that will be completely empty.

Bah. Not much else to say. Hearing, then planning, then Chinese Food tonight and trying to do all sorts of adult things.
