The equinox was at 16:57GMT today. Spring is officially here! Although it said hello with a whole day of torrential rain. Great! Everything is budding, though, which is nice. All our plants that Jay's mam hacked back five months ago are finally starting to bud again! So our garden will look all pretty and green in no time :o) All the daffodils are out in the park and I rescued some of the ones that had snapped stalks and brought them home. When I was a child, me and dad would go to the local park, where there were millions of daffodils as it was the town of Wordsworth's birth. We would come back with armfuls of snapped stemmed rescued daffodils which brightened up the house :o)
Jay bought us tickets to go and see Noel Fielding in October. Great. I hated The Mighty Boosh and Luxury Comedy, it was just "Look how weird and quirky and zany we are! Let's just do a load of weird stuff and everyone will laugh at it." I do sometimes like him on the panel shows, he seems intelligent and witty, but I have no idea what his stand up is like. We're on the second row so he'll be able to see us and I'm going to have to pretend to laugh even if it's not funny. Plus, Rob and Angi are coming with us, who are also big fans like Jay so the whole night will be full of in-jokes. Meh.
In nice news, I've been invited to Jaxx's birthday shenanigans in Loughborough next weekend :o) After complaining I have no friends, and Abi messaged me today asking when we can meet next. The birthday shenanigans are either a rock club in Nottingham or making sushi at Jaxx's house. A bit of a difference there, but she's going with the most popular choice. I don't like sushi but I'll go anyway just to see everyone!
I could complain more about work but that's becoming boring. I've got my annual appraisal coming up and I have a lot to talk about, mainly being left to do all the work on my own more often than not and not having any support. That's if my boss can find five minutes in her schedule that takes her all over Europe but hardly ever into our attention.
Blah.

Oh you should, me and Jay go to see live comedy quite often and it's much better than watching on TV :o)
Haha, the world must have been listening to us and sent us friends after we complained ;o)

You don't like any sushi? Is it the rice?
Bomb Shell Babe In Toyland ⋅ March 20, 2014
I don't know what it is. I like rice normally, do they use special rice for sushi? It's been a while since I've tried it but I've tried a few different types and didn't like any of them. Maybe it's because the rice is cold.
Babe In Toyland ⋅ March 20, 2014
As far as I'm aware, sushi rice is like risotto rice in that it's short gained and sticky. I don't know the correct generic term for "that which we call sushi" but I know some bite sized Japanese foodstuffs don't have rice in them. Sashimi is the only one I know! You might like it better if you make your own? (I prefer it with soy sauce.)

I can't remember if I've had sashimi, I know I've had the vegetable ones; one with cucumber, one with carrots I think. I think it's the cold weird rice I don't like.

I don't like fish sushi but duck sushi is pretty nice x

I think it's the weird cold rice I don't like, but I'm more than willing to try it again as it's been a while :o)

I LOVED The Mighty Boosh but Luxury Comedy was just, like you say, zany for the hell of it. Ultimately, I think Julian Barrett was the funny one, but that's an unpopular view.
It's great that you're going to see your friends, I hope you have a lovely time.
I know a few people who don't like sushi because of the texture of the rice (I could eat it till it came out my ears but we all know I'm sub-normal). That said, I know lots of people who hate it but love it when I make it; store bought is a different beast to home made so maybe you'll like it this time x

I'm sure once you're at the gig the general buzz will take over :-) I've only seen bits of his standup on things like the secret policeman's ball and it was a bit weird, but different from the mighty boosh stuff. Maybe you can get away with making your sushi with as little rice as possible.
