Mixing It Up in Everyday Ramblings

With a longer lens I could have managed some great reflection shots but this one, the juxtaposition of civilization and wetland is pretty nice.
So I did in fact make my Weight Watchers goal weight on Thursday. That was nice and very interesting. They gave me a little booklet on maintaining (for 6 weeks) and then becoming a lifetime member and what is involved. And when you plug that you achieved your goal weight into the apps you automatically get 6 more points a day to eat! Eek.
I was pretty excited about it all and had a great talk with Kes and Most Honorable afterwards about the accomplishment. Sammy, though, was having none of it. We all had a restless night (Stella has been more affectionate and territorial about me) and Sam didn’t like that one bit.
Or should I say one bite. The orange brat bit me in the middle of the night. There was hissing and yelling and pillow throwing. He’s been such a sweetheart the last few months but there was still some spark left in the old guy. He had been grumpy the last few days, unsettled, restless.
After I cleaned up the bite (with my super duper kills anything antibiotic cream the dermatologist gave me for when I had the open wound) I gave him an antacid and some pain med and locked him out for the rest of the night. He has settled down since then but I don’t think I can take another one of these episodes.
Things will change with Stella gone. Less than two weeks now. I am savoring all my moments with her and we’ll see how he does. I have an appointment with the vet for him a few weeks later to evaluate where his kidney disease is. Giving him fluids everyday might be doable once I don’t have all of Stella’s meds to attend to as well.
Today is the first day in seven I have felt reasonably normal and coherent. It has been nice to have the time to not be coherent. Three books, first an e-book mystery, then the trade paperback book book by Jeannette Winterson, (I also watched an interview with her as well on an old Bill Moyers show) and then last night I curled up with my iPod and listened to the last 4 hours of the latest Alafair Burke audiobook.
Audiobooks are getting so much better. I am finally taking full advantage of my audible.com subscription (it is still in Mr. Finch’s name as I set it up for him).
I watched the second in the “Vera” series a few nights back as well. The series from the Ann Cleeves books is in a different order than the actual books. It is interesting how they collapse all these complicated characters into an hour and a half program,.
The mugginess finally broke and we are having a stupendous summer day. Just simple. Warmth, blue skies and a breeze. Nice.
I got a call yesterday midday that I didn’t pick up thinking it was a reminder for my appointment to get my stitches out this coming Tuesday. I checked later to see if there was a message but there wasn’t. But today I got a call from a Women’s Circle friend and when I saw that message there was one that popped in from yesterday as well. Technology!
My latest pathology report is in. But now I won’t know the results until Tuesday.
Oh well. Just plain oh the heck well. I suppose it is good to know the results are finally back even if I don’t know what they are.
In the meantime I have plenty to read and do. Oh yeah.
