Spank my ass and set me on fire.

This week has been… interminably busy!!
Monday? FULL Court Day then three hours of depositions; stayed at work late.
Tuesday? Court Morning then Naked Guy Phone Call & Animal Cruelty Phone Call & Crazy Lady; stayed at work very late
Wednesday? Court Filings all morning then drive 2 hours away, 3 hour meeting, drive 2 hours back. Did not get home until after 6
Thursday?

Well, even though it just started.....
I’ve had to respond to a dozen e-mails, rapidly create my Court Matrix for today’s Magistrate Court, reconfigure a Domestic Charging File, and speak with four people about why I won’t dismiss their traffic tickets before I’ve even seen them! And I’ve only been at work for 87 minutes!!

The next 156 minutes will be spent in Magistrate Court where the Magistrate will request I “resolve as many cases as possible” which is his way of saying, “Hey… cut these folks a break. It’s just traffic tickets, man!” As opposed to what I would prefer which is.... everybody follows the same law! Frankly, if someone came to me and said, “I was going 20 miles over the speed limit because my wife was in labor” then OF COURSE I would make an exception. But to the literally DOZENS of people who say, “I was going 20 miles over the speed limit but if I get a ticket, then I’m out of a job.” And the magistrate says, “I won’t take a guilty plea, then. Talk to the County Attorney’s Office first.” DUDE?! THE FUCK?! He knew BEFORE he sped that it could cost him his job. He sped anyway. WHY AM I REQUIRED TO TREAT HIM DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE HE HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSEQUENCES?!?!?!?! But that is my morning!!

Then, if I’m really lucky, I can grab 5 minutes for lunch before a stupid fucking trial. The trial? 20 year old kid found passed out in his front yard with a bottle of whiskey. He was cited for being in possession of alcohol underage. His MOM says “I gave him something to drink, it isn’t against the law.” WE say, “if you were with him when he was arrested, then your defense is legally acceptable. If he was taking the bottle away from his little brother and was caught returning it to the house, then your defense may be legally acceptable. Discovering a 20 year old passed out while holding a bottle of alcohol? The fuck do you expect us to do, lady?!

So I have that trial. THEN if I am extremely lucky, I’ll have time to correct a mistaken filing and try to finish December’s schedule before we get even further INTO the month itself.

THANK goodness I have therapy and Pathfinder tonight!! I could use some venting and fun to distract me from all this shit this week!
