mirror in the sky in poetry

the moon doesn’t know you
the moon doesn’t know you
look up to it for a light
out there in the darkness

the moon doesn’t know itself
does not think about how it
reflects the sun any more
than you or I consider how
we are on a blue reflecting
beacon out in its night-sky

the moon is just the moon
the moon has all it’s own
moonstuff to worry about
do not presume it has the
time to know what it illuminates
or gives hope at twilight’s cusp
just be grateful and move forward

the moon doesn’t know you
the moon is just the moon
and you are only you
so go make a little
light of your own
