Friday night at midnight it was 50 degrees in the van. I woke up to rain and 47 degrees at 6:30am. I had forgot to get cereal on that last grocery run so I just slurped some milk and went back to bed. I was up a couple of more times during the day, but mostly I laid in bed and listened to the rataplan of rain on the roof. At 4:30pm I got up and ate a sandwich. Still raining. No reason to get out and get wet. Nowhere I need to get wet to go to. I went back to bed. 37 degrees. And it was still 37 degrees this morning. I finally got up and got dressed at 11am. I figured 35 hours of lying in bed was enough. It had stopped raining, but the sun wasn't out yet.

Enough of sleeping.

Enough of dreaming.

Enough of lying there thinking.

Enough of lying there picking scabs.

I walked to the store and bought a couple pints of orange juice, a couple of donuts, a box of cereal, and a pint of cottage cheese. That one third inch of rain had almost washed the winter crud off the sidewalks.

The van had warmed up to 54 degrees by the time I got back. I opened the book and read until I finished it. "The Martian" by Andy Weir. A very good sci-fi novel. An enjoyable fast read.

At dusk I packed up and came over here to Hardee's. And found the wifi working just fine.

So, tomorrow, with a nice sunny 70 degrees predicted, I'll return both books to the library and maybe even go check the mail. I haven't lined up any books for my hold list and I doubt I'll find something downtown so I may have to walk to the main library.

And then I might go see if the university library is open. The student union will be open until 5pm so maybe the library will be open also. I'm overdue for a shave, shampoo, and wash-up. I may even peel off these long johns and fat socks as the weather is supposed to be warming up all week.

So yeah, the planet is still revolving.
