Feels like Spring! in A small but passable life.

Damn, I'm proud of myself. I was up and dressed, finished with my bowl of cereal, and out of the van by 9:30am. Which, with the return to regular time is really 8:30am.

I walked downtown to the library. I turned in the last two books. I perused the shelves and didn't find another book. I did find two CD's to check out. I sat and read the local paper. I HAD to use the restroom so I had to do the new log-in procedure- sign in with name and time, hand over library card, and then take the 'key'. Upon returning the key, sign out, and retrieve library card. WTFE!

I walked on up to the post office. Nothing in my box but a letter from the food stamp folks confirming my receiving benefits for another year. Still $189 a month.

It was now warm enough that I could doff my windbreaker and stash it in my knapsack.

I walked further up to the main library. I perused the "New" shelf and found three non-fiction.

That was the top of my 'figure-eight' shaped path. I headed back South.

I walked all the way to the university. I had brought my kit with me. And yes, the university library was open, 8am until 6pm all this week. Nice. I went in for a nice shave, shampoo, and wash-up. Now I could also doff that toque I'd had covering my greasy mop.

Back at the van I put everything away. I stripped off my long johns and fat socks. I washed my feet with the now damp washcloth. That's better. I sat barefoot in my chair and read one of the new books as the van warmed up to 80 degrees. I opened up a couple of windows. The temperature leveled off at 81.3 degrees and stayed there until dusk. I found my street shoes and cotton socks. I walked to the store and bought a quart of milk and some V-8 juice. I then packed up and came over here to Hardee's.

I've already loaded the two CD's to my iTunes- "Clockwork Angels" by Rush and "Love Stories & Other Musings" by Candlebox. Very nice additions to my library. And totally free. And legal.

And yes, it is almost Spring. The high temperature today was 72 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be 76 degrees. And Wednesday it is supposed to be 45 degrees! Followed by 60degrees on Thursday. Crazy! It looks like I'll be spending Wednesday somewhere other than the van. Probably the student union.

The three books I checked out today may be some heavy, slow reading. That's alright. Shelfari says that I'm at 24% of my goal of 76 books for the year at my current 18 books read so far this year. I think that means I'm ahead a little bit. If I get back on that "Wheel of Time" series that'll definitely slow me down.

So yeah, I'm going to say it's been a fine, fine day. I'm clean and I've shed a couple layers of clothes so that's nice. And light feeling. I like feeling light.
