Another day dawns. The year is half over and July 4th. The wife says, I may enter the HRCA (Highlands Ranch Community Association) 5K race. Well she did. She says, “You and the Moose can, be there and root me on”.
The start of the race is 800 am. We hosted a little soir’e at our house with the neighbors, last night. Moose was a champion!!!! Little kids, new people, he was stellar. Is this the same dog?
We got to bed about 1045 pm. Natures alarm clock will roust me at 520 am. LOL Maria says we should leave here about 720 am, so we can find a place to park. We did, and walked about a quarter of a mile, to the start location.
There are so many new smells, Moose’s brain is on overload. PEOPLE, KIDS!! JOY other DOGS!!! We did well with the walk, still pulling a bit, but nirvana … bunnies !!! We reach the Town Center ( psst we are not formerly a town ). Loud music, lots of runners, and people and vendors and sponsors tents. Moose gets the “PLACE” command and sits and lays down. Yeah… This is going well. A little whining, and over excitement, but we are settling in. Now, the “dog people” start to show. “Can we pet your dog?’‘ Wow, really, was good. He is mouthy, but does not bite. Loving the attention. Can our dog meet your dog, sure..but. He was so good. Aliens have taken my dog.
The race starts, and she is off. Moose and I will walk around. I think, yeah that’s a problem, we’ll walk over to Ridgeline and Highlands Ranch Parkway, maybe see Maria run past. No, on the way, gotta poop. LOL I have poop bags, and a day without a filled poop bag in your hand, is like a day without sunshine. A trash can !!! My Kingdom for a Trash Can!! Good ol Starbucks, LOL.
We make our way back to the Start/Finish line. The “Splash Castle” is there for the runners and anyone who wants to do it. We’re at Landsdown Arms, waiting… I have had many people, with the “Can I pet” request. Wow, Mr Moose, you are doing so well.
Maria finishes, with in a 29 minute time frame. She has met “her” goal, 30 minutes or under.
We wait for the Pancake line.. Go get some, but she says too long. Living the Dream Brewery, is providing the beers . A wheat beer, wow is this a smooth one. Moose is again meeting dogs and pet requests.
Maria with Moose, before the medal ceremony, and a cool down
The “Podium”.
Maria got 1st place in her age group, 60-69. CONGRATS to her :)
The Medal
The walk back to the truck. We’re home, he’s exhausted. It sucks to be a Moose.
