chalk it up
to a lifetime of lessons learned
chalk it up
to a five lifetimes' worth of bridges burned
chalk it up
in a list of debts
and credits earned

chalk it up
to misapplied blame
chalk it up
to an awkward walk of shame
after a college Halloween party
still dressed up as Corey Haim
chalk it up
to years wasted persuing fame

chalk it up
chalk it up
then wash it away
in a gentle summer rain
down a fucking sewer drain
and move on
