Thoughts about Spain in blackpropaganda

We are back from Spain - moving from C30 degrees in the shade to C12 degrees and rain - but in a way it is nice to get back to some normal weather.

I had all kinds of ideas for entries while away - but never quite got round to them - not least because I do not like writing on my phone.
It was too hot to do much cycling - but every late afternoon we walked to the salt pans close to our place to look at the birds - always large numbers of flamingoes with bums on the air and heads in the water - and also many avocets - but my favourite was the little tern ehich will hover about 10 or telve feet above the surface and suddenly dive and catch a small fish - I could spend a long time just watching their prowess. Another regular event was having a coffee and tostada in a chiringuito - the beach bars which offer great value - the tostada - toasted half baguette with olive oil cating and then crushed tomato on top with a little salt. Wonderful just looking out to sea, or activities on the beach while sitting in the shade.

We ate out once - a lunchtime Menu of the Day which contained a wonderful gazpacho - and a bottle of wine between two! - otherwise we would make our own tapas for lunch with some sherry, and eat in the evenings - with wine. Sitting on our patio watching the sunset - and beating off insects was great!
