Mountains in In the Meadow

School starts on September 5th. We have been having a good time on the last bit of summer vacation. We just got back from a long weekend in the Poconos. It was very restful. We stayed at a charming inn. We had a kitchen in the room, which was really helpful. There was a really long pool. The inn was opened in the 1940s. The owner’s daughter and son-in-law had just taken over the place a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice place and I hope they can stay in business for a while. There were nature trails behind the inn. There was a porch outside our room. We saw some deer and a fox.

We made some day trips. We went to Bushkill Falls, which I had never been to before. It is a total of eight waterfalls and is called the Niagara of Pennsylvania. There were wooden walkways out to the falls. There were some longer walkways that involved going over rocks. You could take those to some of the other waterfalls. It was a really hot day and we didn’t go on the long trails. We will do those trails if we come back on a cooler day. They had a couple of interesting gift shops. We also played mini-golf.

Otherwise we are just chilling waiting for school to start. The Yankees have been playing Oakland and last night we stayed up to watch the game.
