Helpful Hubby in My this and that

Today I am so thankful for Ben.

This week there have been a few things that needed doing. I often list the things I need to do out loud to Ben; not so that he feels guilty and will help, but so that he will help remind me if I forget, or help motivate me if I feel lazy.

I said "I need to stop and get some pizza supplies for dinner tonight." He said "I can do that!"

I said "I need to get some change to do laundry." He said "I can do that!"

I said "I need to stop and buy popcorn so I have some to eat tonight!" He said "I can do that!"

Those all took place on different days! I feel so blessed and so loved. He is an amazing man. I am very capable of doing each of those things, and it wouldn't be even going out of my way to get them done. Ben said he can do them since he's done school before I am done work anyway. Instead of just heading home to have a nice nap on the couch before I get home, he's selflessly giving up his time (and being in the cold longer) just to help me out. He is wonderful.

I feel God telling me to just be thankful for the gift He's given me. But part of me still thinks in competition mode: what can I do to "beat" that... how can I out-love Ben? I guess there are worse ways to think in a relationship. One of Ben's major love languages is physical touch, so I shouldn't have a problem with that anyway.
