My oil infusions should be ready. I mean the longer they sit the better, But its been a minimum number of days.
So here is my take.
Mint in coconut- Dont do it lol. It smells so… strange. I dont like it. My mother in law might, she can have it.
Plantain in coconut- Dosent matter how this one smells really. Its for healing the skin. It can smell however it wants. The oil is thick and green. Ill use a blender to chop the leaf fine and then make into a salve ( gets its own entry! Ill even do photos)
Rose in sunflower- Very nice. Bright rich orange. The sunset color of my roses turned the oil deep orange. No sunflower oil scent. very lightly rose scented. Will do ok for a hand balm. I would prefer more scent. I will try some with my pink and wild roses.
Marigold in almond- Not really much of a scent, including the marigold. Hilarious because marigold is SO richly scented. Wonder if it will matter?
Spruce tips in Almond AND Sunflower ( two jars) Smells like spruce. Like pine. A fresh light pine..
Mint in almond oil- Much better. Smells minty, but still smells slightly off.
conclusions. Coconut oil bad, Sunflower oil and Almond oil good! Both leave very little trace scent of their oil and more richly the oil of the plant infused. Coconut oil leaves a lot to be desired in the scent of the oil. Some scents shouldent be mixed. Like mint haha.
Next up is to survive the heat that alaska is drowning under so i can turn the stove on and start making some balms. Till then, they will continue to sit in the southern facing window and infuse.
