no,
love does not conquer all
love does not always win
but love has a puncher's chance
when the fix isn't in
love can win any fight that's fair and
that has to count for something
no,
love does not defeat death
but death is a cheat
death is a prank by the gods
that steals away our meat
and there's nothing to be done about it
because the gods are cruel assholes
but if the gods weren't such
officious monstrous pricks
love could probably win
no,
love does not defeat age
but it can carry you through it with grace
love can take that motherfucker age
through all of the rounds
age will win by decision
when the points are tallied
but only because the judges are bought off
time is a bastard who cheats
if the officials weren't corrupt
and biased and weak
love would overcome
no,
love does not defeat money
but that's not love's fault
we're the ones who give money power
we're the ones who make
this imaginary thing
this short-hand to ease exchanges
between dissimilar goods and services
as a thing with power
as a thing that's real
as a thing that's more real than
the goods and services it's used to exchange
as a thing that's more real than we are
that one's not on love
that one's on us
love's only more powerful than money
because we will the world so
if we weren't such assholes
love would blow money out of the fucking water
every day of the week
and twice on Sundays
love would straight fuck money up
no,
love isn't everything
but that's our fault
for pretending
that there are things over than love
love wins every fair fight straight-up
and that counts for something
it counts
