Caught a bug? in A small but passable life.

After that one whole week of warmer temperatures Winter is back. Cold and wet sloppiness on the way.

I finished reading "House of Sand and Fog" by Andre Dubus III this evening. I've got one more of his books in the van.

I spent Sunday over at the university library and the last three days at the student union. Yesterday Angela found me and stopped to chat for a bit. She said she'd been worried because she hadn't seen me in awhile. (That one whole week I spent in the van.) I told her that I've been fine, I was just elsewhere for awhile.

Monday I walked to the library to return a book and to the post office to check the mail just because it was a bright and beautiful day.

And it seems as if I've pushed my luck. Right after I got to the van this evening I sneezed about a half dozen times right in row. And now my nose is dripping snot. So, it looks like the last four or so days I've spent around people have allowed me to inhale a rhinovirus. Nothing like a cold when the temperature at night is supposed to be below freezing for at least the whole coming week. I haven't had a cold since February 2011 from the little monsters when I went over to Crackerville East and spent a few nights. Three years? I suppose I can't bitch about that.

Tomorrow though I'm going to get out and walk to the library to return the book, the post office, and the welfare office. It'll be a bitch of walk in the cold and wind, but once that's done I'll be done with business for at least another month. Snow and ice is predicted for the weekend so I may just stay in my sleeping bag for the duration. No reason not to. I've got plenty of empty milk jugs saved up for pee bottles. It's been not quite a year since I've spent a solid sixty or more hours in my sleeping bag. I think it was last March during a lengthy cold rain.

Johnny showed up over here last night. He's no longer homeless. He finally found a place over on the northwest edge of town. Only took him about three years before he found someone to rent to him.

So yeah, I'll see how this cold I've caught progresses over the next twelve hours, when I get up at noon again tomorrow.

I even had a banana and some orange juice yesterday morning. I guess that wasn't defense enough.
