amsterdam. in 2018

so i haven’t written about this yet obviously. wow. bc well a. i wasn’t here i was overseas and i don’t have internet on my phone nor do i bring my comp. w/ me when i travel for maybe obvious reasons. and 2. i was and still am getting used to being back so.
so um yeah amsterdam was good our vacation was good. i love that city. what a good vacation we had. i keep forgetting that’s where we went bc. usually when we’ve travelled overseas other then 2 other times my first time in london when i was 18 and when we went to. denmark we’ve gotten a flat. but london when i was 18 and when we went to denmark. and this recent vacation we shared a hotel rm. Yeah in that city apparently um. people aren’t allowed to build new well bldgs but they’re allowed to convert. the ones that already exist cause it’s such a small city. oh i took a suitcase my mom has which i’ve returned to her bc w/ the one I usually take the handle has trouble going up and down. i’ve had for yeah that’s right 10 yrs. so. and neither of us wanted to deal w/ the handle business so. We always take carry ons. i realise i haven’t said who ‘we’ are. my mom i that ‘we’.
We left. the 9th it was. oh right it was around 3:30 only i heard 2:30. so at 2:50 i called my parents my dad picked up and i’m ‘what time are you supposed to be here?’ and he said 3:30. oh. so i was ready an hr. early. apparently. yeah so we got to the airport oh and while we were waiting in line we had an experience w/ this english woman jennifer. I recently mentioned this on fb. but for those who don’t have. my fb i will. come back to that topic. as i do.
We weren’t allowed to fly direct from Denver to um Holland. so we flew from Denver to London waited 2 hrs. not 6 and then off to holland from uh. London. oh um. on the london flight I watched dreamgirls it was really good. i was surprised i watched it in one sitting as usually w/ movies i don’t i’ll only watch half of it bc of my attention span.
so when we got. to Holland after the short flight from London it was daytime. We took an uber to our hotel rm. put our suitcases and walked to. the store maybe? oh and then went by the Rikes Museum the hallway in which. was a free music concert. little show thing they the guy musicians there were 4 of them played the james bond theme that was cool. We sat in the. little garden they have outside the museum. Yeah so. one of the other days we were there I was looking at a map of the museum and i told my mom I wanted to see the garden and she goes ‘what garden?’ and i’m ‘isn’t there a garden?’ no apparently that was the garden we already went to. oh. i thought there was another one. but no. i think after that we went to a church. after the church we went to the museum center. We watched an australian play a digireedo. We went to. the Van Gogh museum think that happened our first day there. it’s a big place we’d been 4 yrs. ago doesn’t change the fact that i still like it. oh and as part of the Van Gogh museum there was a. hockney exhibit. David Hockney, he’s gay [not that it matters], English. 70. big colorful prints. he in his video was inspired by van gogh’s work. i liked the exhibit my mom likes his stuff. he’d lived in california at one point hockney that is not van gogh. and he’d have guests over and one whom. he’d painted. so for those who look up his work the piece of the guy diving or in the swimming pool. is one of the guests.
So our second day we walked through this outdoor market thing which was in an alley. oh we couldn’t find the indonesian place the hotel guy told us about so we. took an uber. so first we walked around for some time then went into a hotel and asked for Indonesian places. well. my mom asked then. we took the uber. The food was really good I had tempeh or, as i call it,
tree bark’. it’s like cinnamon. well we had other stuff too all vegetarian but that was my fave. my other fave was this. i don’t know what it’s actually called but it’s this yellow stuff that’s in blades and it tastes just like pineapple. it was so good. i’d had indonesian food before last time we were there. in amsterdam i mean and i remember it being good so. that was the best food we had there.
then we went to. oh right we walked around and happened upon a war memorial. it was nice. On our way back to the hotel was a small district. by which i mean rld. by which i mean red lights district. it’s legal there um. prostitution.
oh our third day we went to the Rikes Museum. to see the vemeers as my mom likes them. i like them too. also Van Gogh’s self portrait. and then through the museum center and back to the hotel.
