It's a pretty word
But I don't care for
The flower.
No...not so much...
But the word...
Yeah,
Cool.

And you,
I don't care so much for you
Either.
And still I'm here,
Clutching daffodils
And wishing
I had better sense
Or you had better manners
And would accept these clicheed tokens
Of something-or-other
I have left
Undefined,
Unrefined,
Unnamed...

And somewhat flammable.

So for heaven's sake,
My sweet darling whatsis,
Take these damned flowers
And put them in a vase
Or throw them in the trash,
Whichever
Suits your fancy.

Discard these,
Discard me,
Dismiss everything.

I
Could
Care
Less...

(These are not tears...no..
It's just water under the dam.
Big boys don't cry...)

As for me
I am going home
Where my cat will greet me at the door.
He has more of a backbone than you,
And better sense than
A damned old daffodil.
