Annexe in Diary

Well, as predicted, I didn't get my shiny rock on Valentine's day. Maybe I should just accept that I'm going to die a childless spinster, then if children or marriage does happen, it will be an extra brilliant surprise.

We went to a place called Annexe in Birmingham, which is nice but it's trying to be a bit too posh for itself. There's a waiter to bring your wine, a waitress to take your order, one to fill up the bread basket, one to fill up your wine glass every time you take a little sip (which meant that Jay had the vast majority of the wine because I don't like drinking while I eat and was saving it for after!). I had some sort of cheese and squash ravioli, which was delicious and expensive, but I only managed to eat half of it because, for some reason, I felt quite ill while we were in there. I think it was partly to do with the fact that it was massively incredibly hot in there; and if I'm saying it's hot, it must have been bloody hot! I felt really bad about the money I wasted but Jay didn't care, saying as long I enjoyed what I did eat, there's no point forcing myself. I do feel bad about the money I wasted though.

Nice night out and a good reason to dress up.

We had to buy a new washing machine AND a new vacuum cleaner on Saturday. Our old vacuum cleaner died and the washing machine committed suicide by jumping off the counter. It's a good job we still have some money borrowed from my dad as that was £450 we weren't expecting to spend. Our new Dyson is amazing though (and should last about 10 years); the amount of dust it sucked up is incredible and disgusting to think it was all sitting on our floors!
So exciting, I've managed to save a lot more money than I thought I would from January's income. Including money from the photography job, selling stuff, pet sitting and my regular wages, I put away £1,100! Wowowow. If I could save that much every month, I'd be able to quit my job in a couple of months. As it is, I now only need another £2,000 to get to target. In the last month, the only things that have come out of my personal bank account (apart from the money for the mortgage, bills, groceries etc.) are petrol, my Lovefilm subscription, my phone contract and my sponsor dog for the Dog's Trust. If I can continue that for a while longer I'll be laughing :o) Although I do have a short trip to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, let's see how much I spend on that, haha :o)
Yeah it's boring and quiet at work again, hence the seemingly pointless update.
