the sincerity that can only come from
driving straight through irony once
letting it burn all away and then
coming back to sincerity but wiser
returning to honesty full-circle
this is what fills my heart up
I wanna see what you look like
when you’re singing out so loud
your soul’s escaping your mouth
I wanna see how far it gets
how far you let your soul out
before you finally call it back
or if you let it out its cage
and die there on the stage
we’re too old for irony
we’re too old to lie
we’re too old for posing
we’re too old to die
young
we’re too old to die young
