Dear Georgie,

You’ve never been one to follow the crowd, and it definitely paid off.

There were many tough decisions that you had to make, but divorcing PeTe was the best decision you’ve made overall.

Now, I know that you’re heartbroken; even marrying HIM was finding a new path. There aren’t many guys who are virgins at 22. It was a definite treasure to find. The idea that you would’ve been each others’ one and only…now, that was definitely one in a million.

But, let me tell you, he fell even deeper down the rabbit hole. He’d become obsessed with making the kind of money his parents took a lifetime to build. He currently spends 16-18 hours at his office, and his current marriage…well…let’s just say you hope your kids know that you leaving was best for YOU. YOU could never be YOU if you stayed stuck in a marriage that wasn’t a true partnership.

Your kids will resent you for a few years, but when they’re old enough to understand, they will learn that you protected them from A LOT of heartache on the medical front. They will understand why you didn’t text every single day, because the lives they have now? They wouldn’t have what they have NOW if you’d been with them throughout an unhappy marriage, because he’s there now, and your kids…they’re upset.

But, keep doing the best you can. That is all anyone can do.
