Write a letter to the teacher who made a difference in your life.

Dear Mr. Stubbs,

It’s only coincidence that this would be the prompt for Valentine’s Day. When I first saw this prompt, I will admit, I got a little teary.

Then, I got busy and I forgot to try to keep all this updated. Consequently, I’m WAY behind. Oh well. I will catch up.

I know you’re probably shaking your head at me. I know that I’ve let a lot of things go, and I know you’d probably yell at me for that.

Honestly, between my Dad passing away and losing you…I just felt…I don’t know. All those things I loved…they just didn’t help me anymore either. I gave up music for a long time. I’m not sure I even know how to play anymore. Then I looked at what it would cost me to get a new flute and wow…I was like, maybe now is not the time.

You taught me to fight to the finish. You taught me that nothing is over until some sort of “Final” is there. You taught that even though “Final” was there, it doesn’t mean that it’s an “end all, be all”. You taught me that it’s okay to start over and to do better. You taught me there is nothing wrong with making mistakes, as long as you learn from them, because some of the most beautiful music starts with a “wrong” note.

I miss you so much, and I’m even more sad that I didn’t get to see you while you were still alive.

Lots of love,

Georgie
