I grew up in the 80's and so for me one of the biggest films I saw that decade was Ghostbusters and it's subpar sequel. Two days ago, one of the members of that cast, Harold Ramis, passed away at the age of 69.

While people will remember him for his film roles, some will be shocked when they realize of the work Ramis' did behind the camera as a screen writer and director.

Ramis' writing credits include SCTV, Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Back To School, Groundhog Day and Analyze This. That's a pretty impressive list of movies if you ask me. Many of them are classic comedies that started many great carreers. Ramis also directed movies such as National Lampoon's Vaction, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Multiplicity, Analyze This and The Ice Harvest.

As a writer myself, I am inspired by Ramis' work and his ability to generate great laughs. His films were very funny but also managed to show the world as a better place than it usually was. There was a glimmer of hope and that made people feel better when they left the theatre. That's what entertainment is all about and Ramis was very good at it.

Harold will be missed but his work will live on and be enjoyed for generations to come.
