No Words in Thirty-Four

I do have words though.....but I’m just super dumbfounded at how ridiculously STUPID the healthcare system is. How everything is such a complicated process and they wonder why so many people are SO SICK. It’s because it’s takes YEARS to find the right treatment. That includes all the time waiting for insurance to approve shit or for a medication to arrive. I do not understand.
It does actually make sense I guess because then without sick people big pharma would not have any money.
Anyway, I told you all that just to tell you what my morning consisted of. It’s just before 1pm, I have been going since 7:45. And guess what? GOT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED.
So when I saw my rheumy a few weeks ago, he referred me to a podiatrist because my ankle and foot click when I walk, and it’s painful most of the time. Anyway, got my appointment set up for today. A week and a half ago or so. They told me they were going to email me some paperwork to fill out, never got it.
My insurance is a Medicare/Medicaid advantage plan. I have had medicaid since 2014.....I got medicare in 2015 when I got my disability (my wait time from initial application to approval was over 2 years so medicare kicked in immediately). December of 2015 medicaid calls me to tell me that they are paying my medicare premium (+-$150) beginning in 2016.
I received my Advantage Plan card but, even though I had requested it a couple times, I never received the Medicaid card. I didn’t think I needed it because I wasn’t aware that they were separate plans. I thought it was one plan, with certain things being paid by medicaid and certain things being paid by medicare. So here we are in 2019 ok....
Got there this AM just before 9. Got my ID and Advantage Plan card out. She starts entering stuff and says I need my AHCCCS (medicaid) card. I explain to her that by this time I’ve requested it 3 times. She then tells me that I can’t be seen because they have to have a physical card to scan. So i’m like I’m fucked. I tried calling my neurologist because I know they had printed me one before, but they can’t do that anymore, of course.
So I requested a new one and if it’s not here in 5 days i’ll request a new one until I fucking get one. OMG. So it’ll be another month or two before anything can be done.
For the last 3or 4 weeks I have also been trying to get my botox shit scheduled. So, a few days before Christmas, they called me from CVS Specialty Pharmacy saying it was at the Pharmacy, that they were waiting for the prescription to be verified and the insurance to approve it or whatever.
So on the 4th I finally called again to see wtf was going on. They still hadn’t verified the insurance. That was the end of the conversation. I called again the following week and that person told me they didn’t even HAVE my insurance information on file. So I gave her all the information and she put it in a note. I called this past friday and they still hadn’t inputted it into the system. I called Tuesday and they STILL HADN’T PUT IT IN THE GODDAMN SYSTEM. I called yesterday....not in the system. They sent a message to the manager and the case manager to get this shit going. So I called today and it wasn’t. in. the. system. They said someone was coming in at 12 and that she would do that first thing and give me a call back.
Sure enough an hour or so later, I get a call. Oh, so we can’t fill the botox prescription because your insurance doesn’t work with our pharmacy, so you have to go through this other specialty pharmacy.
Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me.
I had a mini breakdown in Fry’s. We were waiting for one of my prescriptions to be filled and doing some grocery shopping. Blah. I’m so over how fucking difficult it is to get anything done in this country. They wonder why so many people are sick and disabled. It’s because they don’t give a shit about how people actually feel. They worry about how much things are going to cost them. I UNDERSTAND that, but there is money there. There’s so many other things that could be cut back in order to make sure that the citizens of this country are taken care of.
Because guess what? When people are healthy, and not dealing with chronic illnesses that get put on the back burner, they can go out and get jobs, and be an active member of the workforce. The number of people on government assistance would plummet if it wasn’t so goddamn difficult to be seen by a dr and get the proper medicine that one needs.
I’m at the point again where I just feel like I should get off of all my medication and say fuck it and do whatever the fuck I want and just die happy in a few years once everything shuts down and I crumble in on myself. Or you know have a brain aneurysm or a stroke and be done with it. Like that’s what they look forward to, so they can check off one more person they don’t have to worry about.
I’m so mad. I’m just beyond frustrated and everything is bullshit. FUCK.
