Nordic walking into floods in blackpropaganda

Nordic walking is a good aerobic exercise using two poles which really merely graze the ground as you move forward - and an hour of it can be very invigorating - especially followed by coffee etc. So yesterday we were out in the afternoon - and it started to snow as we drove to the meeting point - and here we are before setting out - real Nordic conditions which we have never had before
We actually walked for 30 minutes in driving snow - and slippery underfoot before getting back to the cars and negotiating tricky roads to our coffee spot - by then the shower had gone - there were many more yesterday evening. Now the rain has started so t is very mucky outside and on the roads!!
Meanwhile Dave Cameron has been touring the flood sites so show something will be done - not that they can really do anything as more wind and rain come in - but apparently there will be not problem with the money available - it looked like an open cheque - but no that has made the government really scared - Don't Panic. Here is Steve Bell's cartoon today
Dave confronts the people who are moaning!

Somebody up there clearly wanted to give you all a true Nordic experience ;-) I've just seen the satellite image of the 3 storms we're having/going to have. Red warnings now and Hurricane force (12) off Shannon. Eek!! Our deluge has gone horizontal.

I'm seriously tempted to give this a go. I'm a keen photographer, and previously I wouldn't go out in bad weather for any reason, but now, I'm out every day, no matter what, walking miles looking for stuff to take pictures of. I have a great backpack that I can carry all my camera gear in, so a couple of poles and some decent footwear and I'd be all set. I'm going to look into this. I'm guessing there's a specific technique to it, or you have to join a club or something. There's a guy who uses these poles to walk to work every morning, I've often wondered what the heck he was doing - now I know!
