Boots.
Those thirty-something-dollar boots from Walmart, from China, weren’t going to work. Two short hikes south into the desert and the longer 12.6 mile wilderness hike proved it beyond a doubt. Daughter will take them home to give them away or I’ll give them away.
Sunday Daughter and I made the fifty mile round trip into the city to go to REI. I found a pair of Vasque boots on clearance for $110. Not bad at all. I sized up from a size 9 to a 10 1/2. I had brought a pair of my fat socks to make sure of a good fit. I have one year to return them to any REI for any reason.
The weather.
It’s felt like winter here for over a week. Highs in the upper fifties and getting down to the upper thirties at night. The forecast calls for the mid-sixties by Friday. Maybe that’ll be the end of our “Winter”. Mountaintop snow this morning.
Daughter’s visit.
I’m disapointed in the weather we’ve had while she’s been here, but all in all I believe she’s enjoying her stay. The weather for her last two days should be nice.
The laptop.
I tucked it away in my briefcase. I’ve written down the instructions to make a password reset disk. Some day when I get bored enough to try that it’ll just maybe work.
