Long Two Days in Hello

So, Wednesday I had a job interview at noon. Medical machine shop making steel screws that go in the human body. Before I head out I learn my eldest brother is having surgery that afternoon from tearing a bicep (ouch) lifting weights the previous night.

I Google the address to the place and it takes me roughly twenty-five or so minutes to get there.

I. NAIL. IT.

The interviewer let me know he’d be calling the agency I went through to offer me the job. On the way home I decide on some takeout from China Taste (been eating there since they opened in ‘96) to celebrate. Just so happens the agency is a few buildings over so I place my order and let the people know it went well.

Home about two PM, just sitting down to eat when the agency calls offering me the job and to tell me to come back for drug screening and paperwork. I inhale my wings and shrimp with lobster sauce and head back there. Wizz quiz passed, paper work filed however I had to run back home to get a blank check for direct deposit, the agency is less than ten minutes from my house.

From there I head to the Surgery Center to see my brother, SIL and mom. He gets called back and we wait…and wait. Actually it wasn’t that bad. Halfway through I went to Subway to get my SIL dinner. His surgery goes well, though super nauseous. Seeing how it’s now eight PM I offer to drop his prescriptions off at the pharmacy so they can get it on the way home and inadvertently get roped into babysitting him Thursday so SIL can work a half day. I agree to but was SUPER pissed.

One: Neither brother would offer me any help whatsoever if I had a major surgery. I’d be told to get over it and do it myself. Family, right?

Two: Bitch! It’s your husband, TAKE THE FUCKING DAY OFF IF YOU’RE THAT FUCKING CONCERNED.

But no. She would have left him alone so she could work…whatever, I begrudgingly agree to do it.

Leave there for the pharmacy and get that squared away then head to the grocery store for a bag of frozen shrimp so I could make dinner. Finally! Home close to nine PM. Whip up chicken and shrimp teriyaki and in bed around midnight.

Only to wake up a little after three to not be able to get back to sleep. Ugh!

It was below freezing when I left at seven to head to their house. Basically I ended up watching the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy, playing the first Fallout on my laptop while raiding the fridge as he slept. I let the dogs out twice, six wiener dogs, very loving. Got back home around two-thirty PM to a chicken bacon Hawaiian pizza from Marco’s. (DROOL) Then I proceeded to drink bourbon and Coke to celebrate my new job.

Needless to say both days were long and a bit hectic. Today, though other than get groceries, I’m not moving from my recliner. Since mom’s surgery I’ve done all the cooking and cleaning. Now that she’s got the stitches out and has started physical therapy I’ve been able to relax some. Case in point she’s on babysitting detail with my brother today and I’ve got the house to myself.

I’m at peace, ahhhh.
