So Far So Good in Hello

The new job is going good. Within the first few hours I was talking and cracking jokes with the new coworkers like we were old friends.

Today I was pretty much running three machines by myself. I’m enjoying it. I’ve been manufacturing cervical plates on HAAS mills. Now if I can just get my hands on one of the four axis Swiss Citizens I’d be manufacturing the screws that go into the plates. Swiss machines are where the money is.

I’m looking forward to the rest of my week. This is COMPLETELY different from the other medical place I was at earlier this year. Everyone was uptight and I was one of the youngest people on that shift. Sounds trivial but when you go to work where everyone is in a pissy mood it has an effect on you. Especially if your supervisor was the type to lose his temper over minor things and start throwing parts and tools around. Yes, that happened a couple of times. All I could do was take a few steps back and let this grown man in his fifties get over his tantrum.

My only gripe (so far) is we’re in the middle of nowhere so there are no restaurants (fast food and otherwise) around. Also, seeing how the company is fairly new, no snack or drink machines. I’m told after the first of the year when we move everything into the expanded part of the factory they’ll get some vending machines in. Not that it really matters to me because I bring my lunch/soda it’d still be nice to have a choice. They do have Swiss Miss hot chocolate in the breakroom, though, as well as a brand new coffee pot. It was well below freezing outside when I clocked in today and that did the trick in warming my bones.

Anyways, another hour or so if T.V. then it’s bedtime.
