The kids are on vacation from school this week. This weekend, we went cross-country skiing and sledding. We have quite a bit of snow. We are forecast to have warmer temperatures over the next few days, so our snow may not be around too much longer. I'm sure we'll get more.

On Friday the kids passed out valentines to the other kids in their class. They made their own valentines and decorated them. They had a class valentines day party. The kids each brought home valentines. I was surprised at how many of the sixth graders in Timmy and Kayla's class did valentines. When I was picking them up after school I noticed that some of the seventh and eighth graders in the middle school had valentines from friends.

We have been reading from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. We have also been watching the Olympics. We can watch coverage on both US and Canadian television stations. Sometimes they show the same things and sometimes not. I sort of feel like I should watch the US station and root for the Americans, but the Canadian station has a different perspective. I don't remember very much about the old Soviet Union. I guess it was already starting to break up by the time I was in middle school and starting to be aware of things like that.
